Living Way Bible Study (LWBS) began when two Lutheran women, Phyllis Locke and Kathy Foelber, were attending a popular, non-denominational Bible study that used a successful 4-step approach.  The study called for a commitment of time and led to a deeper and richer walk with the Lord.

These women asked themselves, "Why can't the Lutherans do this?"

With much prayer and determination, LWBS was begun.

The goal was to provide Bible study courses written by LCMS pastors, using the same effective approach.

In 1982  their dream became a reality when Dr. Erwin Kurth finished the first two courses:  "Matthew" and "Acts of the Apostles."  Later that year, the first class was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Long Beach, CA.

Since then, LCMS pastors have been busy writing courses for LWBS so that we can now offer 43 different studies, covering much of the Old Testament and all of the New Testament.  Our studies are now used across the U.S. Canada and as far away as New Zealand!

We have always operated with an all-volunteer staff, believing that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13).  All donations to our ministry are used solely for the production, promotion and the on-going process of adding to, and updating, the studies offered.

Our prayer is that through these studies you will grow in your walk with, and appreciation for, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  To God be the Glory!!

"... Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching...Hebrews 10:24-25
